I packed in the morning and left my house about 10:30 a.m. I stopped in Columbus for food and gas. I arrived at the state park about 5 p.m., Central Time. The other women at the park were Norma, Lynn, Paula, Peggy, and Bernie. Later, I met Lorraine and Terri. We had shirt-sleeve weather during the day and it was unbelievable that in mid-winter, we were relatively warm. I enjoyed every minute of it.

A flock of ducks on the lake were fun to watch and we could see them easily from our campsites. Every afternoon about dusk, a flock of birds perched in nearby trees.The birds would make noise for about 45 minutes, then fly off to roost overnight.

I really enjoyed the trip and meeting everyone.
At night, I would listen to my radio in the back of the van. The radio station announced that cold weather was on the way and would arrive late Thursday. On Thursday morning, I packed to return to Atlanta and left about 11 am. It was very windy and the warm weather was rapidly leaving. When I stopped in Columbus for food and gas, when I opened the van door, a gust of wind hit the opened door and almost blew it away from the hinges. I had to put on a rain coat and really wrap up for the walk to the store. While driving, about 60 miles away from Atlanta, I tuned the radio to an Atlanta station. The predicted weather for the city was that it would not freeze overnight in the city. I arrived home about 6 p.m. after driving through rush-hour traffic. I was very glad to sleep in my bed again and delayed unpacking the van until the next day.
